WELLSVILLE — Carriage Limousine Service, a horse-drawn carriage provider, continues to grow its fleet for its clients in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The company recently added a stretch Victorian carriage and an Indian doli to its fleet, bringing its total number of carriages to seven and further expanding its Indian wedding services.

Since first opening its doors in 1998, Carriage Limousine Service has grown. All carriages are pulled by the family’s white Percheron draft horses named George, Pearl, King, Lady, May, Lucy and Suzy.

The company caters to weddings, funerals, proms, parades and any other special occasion.

The addition of the doli and the stretch victorian carriage — an oversized carriage that can accommodate larger groups — demonstrates the company’s commitment to meeting the needs of its clientele, said Carriage Limousine Service founder Richard Steed.

“Due to the popularity of our Victorian carriage, we decided it was time to add another Victorian-style carriage to our fleet. Luckily we were able to acquire a stretch Victorian. This carriage is a larger version of our regular Victorian and holds six or more adults. It’s the perfect carriage for a small wedding party, parade or for young people looking for timeless, elegant transportation to the prom. For us, it was about giving our clients more options and better selection.”

Adding a doli to the fleet was a logical move for the company, Steed said, because Carriage Limousine Service specializes in Indian weddings and has been using its white Percherons to serve as traditional wedding horses for grooms for some time. Providing transportation for the bride was the next step.

“Dolis are an important symbol in Indian wedding tradition. Our ornate doli provides for an authentic and beautiful entrance of a bride as she is carried down the aisle to her groom,” Steed says. “We can also provide a wheeled cart for the doli to rest on for easier maneuverability until it’s time to pick it up. We’re also in the early stages of a second doli design as well.”

“Our No. 1 priority is to make the day as special as we possibly can,” he noted.

Carriage Limousine Service is a family-owned business that serves the Tri-State Area, including Youngstown, Cleveland, Akron/Canton, Pittsburgh and Wheeling.
