CHANGES: Jessica Francis of Assure America Corp. has earned the professional designation of associate in personal insurance from the Insurance Institute of America.

Recipients of the API designation demonstrate in-depth personal property and liability insurance knowledge with a focus on personal lines business, according to officials.

Francis earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in accounting from West Liberty University. She holds a property and casualty insurance license. Francis joined Assure America in 2012 and has been promoted to executive agent — personal lines.

Anthony Clements has obtained his license for life and health insurance in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Clements holds a master’s degree in business administration from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He has been with Assure America for three years and serves as executive agent for operations management.

Renee Contumelio has joined Assure America as executive assistant for marketing and public relations. Contumelio is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned a degree in professional writing. She has worked as a writer for the media and public relations industries for two decades.

Assure America, which represents more than 10,000 policyholders, has locations in Weirton, Steubenville, Chester, Wellsburg and Pittsburgh, as well as Kentucky.

JOINS STAFF: Shannon Dickerson has joined Assure America as executive director for sales and marketing.

Dickerson holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and rhetoric from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in communication and rhetoric studies from the University of Colorado. She previously worked as a metro manager and strategic analyst for Media Star Promotions, where she received several awards and honors. Dickerson will be housed at Assure America’s newest office at 651 Holiday Drive in Pittsburgh, which is located in Foster Plaza off the Greentree Road exit.

NAMED TO POSITION: Steubenville native Rick DeLuca has been named director of software engineering for the GE Transportation dispatch team in Melbourne, Fla.

DeLuca will continue to lead the Release Train Engineers for Network Optimization and will report directly Bitu Deka, the GE Transportation technical director.

Members of the dispatch development team will report to DeLuca. DeLuca has more than 20 years of experience leading software teams across the GE businesses, including power, energy, connections and network solutions.

The son of Patsy and Rachel DeLuca of Steubenville, he graduated from Catholic Central High School and the University of Akron.

APPLE NEWS: Apple’s faithful fans and investors won’t have to wait much longer to see what the iPhone maker has in store next.

The company sent out invitations Thursday to set Tuesday as the date for an annual post-Labor Day showcase.

As usual, the famously secretive Apple didn’t say what’s on tap, but this is typically when Apple unveils new iPhones.

Much of the anticipation is swirling around whether Apple will show off a dramatically different type of iPhone with a sleeker and even bigger screen to celebrate the device’s 10th anniversary.
