New look and new options

The owners of the Follansbee McDonald’s were joined by the Follansbee Chamber of Commerce in unveiling renovations to the 30-year-old store, including the addition of two double-sided kiosks with which customers may place their orders. Owner Twila Mezan said there still will be a register for those who prefer to order that way and no employees will be cut, with dedicated staff instead to prepare meals that now will be ordered simultaneously and delivering them to customers seated in the restaurant. Other improvements include a self-serve drink station and a more handicap accessible dining area and restrooms. The changes are part of a nationwide remodeling of McDonald’s stores, including locations in Steubenville, Weirton, Wintersville and Wellsville, either under way or set for next year. Cutting a ribbon between the two kiosks were chamber members Eric Fithyan; former owners Rich Mezan and Karen Mezan; Kara Mezan, general manager; Twila Mezan; chamber President Debbie Puskarich; and chamber members Brandy Puskarich Bradley, Charles Wright, Donna Henline, Cindy Kocher and Charlotte Kolenc. — Warren Scott
