Gloria Popp of Steubenville, senior sales director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, has been awarded her 23rd car during her longtime career with the Texas-based company, recently receiving the keys for a pink 2018 Cadillac SUV from TEAM Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Cadillac in Wintersville from sales consultant Scott Medley, a constant in her career success. Through the years, Medley has handed Popp the keys to more than eight new cars at different dealership providers. A ceremonial presentation of the keys, however, will come during Popp’s participation at an upcoming Mary Kay seminar in Dallas where she will be applauded for the achievement awarded for unit production. This marks Popp’s fourth signature Mary Kay pink Cadillac in her career that spans more than four decades, having begun in the early 1980s as a timid undertaking to try something new after having lost her job at the phone company. At the encouragement of her husband, Paul, and her sister, the former Cookie Bianco, Popp decided to give the independent beauty consultant opportunity a go and discovered a niche, she said, that combined perseverance and customer service to reap rewards. Along the way, she encouraged other women to become consultants, too. Today, her Sugar Popps unit boasts 175 representatives in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, California and Florida. “I’m proud of our unit effort,” Popp said.
