Verizon hosting backpack giveaway at mall

STEUBENVILLE – The Verizon Wireless location at the Fort Steuben Mall, in conjunction with the Cellular Connection’s Culture of Good campaign, is giving away free backpacks to those who stop into the store between noon and 2 p.m. on Aug. 3.

There is no cost to receive a backpack, but the child must be present. Children will get to choose between several color options on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Nationwide, TCC is giving away 60,000 high-quality backpacks at more that 400 participating stores, which will be filled with school supplies through their TCCRocks School Rocks Backpack Giveaway Initiative.

Any backpacks that are left over will be donated to local schools.

The backpacks are from “Backpacks With a Purpose” and are built to last, with water-resistant zippers, internal organization sleeve and pockets, large capacity at 1,520 cubic inches, mesh water bottle pockets on both sides, padded laptop sleeve and rubberized BWAP and thumb grip zipper pulls. According to the TCC website, the goal is to ensure that as many children as possible are set up for educational success.
