Acuity Specialty Hospital holds quarterly discussions

STEUBENVILLE – Acuity Specialty Hospital, Ohio Valley, has initiated an ongoing, quarterly forum to bring health care providers and their affiliates together to discuss how to prevent unnecessary patient re-admissions.

Titled “Bridging the Gap,” the first forum took place in November at Belmont Hospital in Bellaire and Scaffidi’s Pasta in Steubenville, with nearly 100 representatives from local hospitals, skilled care, hospice, home health, infusion, long-term acute care and durable medical equipment companies attending.

“The concept is to get providers all on the same page and to bring all of our knowledge together to prevent unnecessary re-admission to the hospitals through education, education and more education,” said Tracey Cutri, director of case management at Acuity.

“It is all about the patients and the more we can help them be successful at home the happier the patient will be. With the changes in our health care we need the patients to be more educated than ever.

“It is our jobs to make sure that the patients have everything they need including knowing that someone is there for them to ensure that they can make it at home or a lower level of care,” Cutri explained.

The next meetings are scheduled for March 19.

The sponsors of the November events, in addition to Acuity, were DeFelice Care, Visiting Angels, Health South Rehab, Intrepid Home Care and Carter Home Care.

For information about sponsoring the March event or to receive information, contact Cutri by telephone at (740) 283-7311 or (740) 314-9327 or by e-mail at tcutri@acuityhealthcare.net.
