Harrison Community Hospital receives ambulance donation

CADIZ – Harrison Community Hospital recently received a donation from Smith Ambulance that will help in efforts to provide emergency and nonemergency transport services to the residents of Harrison County.

Bob Smith, president and owner of Smith Ambulance Service Inc., of Dover, donated the ambulance in early October and the unit was put into service in November.

Kevin Milligan, the hospital’s vice president of operations, said “We are grateful for this donation that is a welcome addition to our emergency response vehicles. Smith Ambulance has a long history of exceptional response to the needs of the community and we appreciate that they have included our hospital and the residents of Harrison County in that caring generosity.”

Smith stated his company always has supported many volunteer organizations and neighboring agencies when they have needed help.

“We are pleased to be able to help Harrison Community Hospital provide needed emergency medical services to the region,” he said.

Smith Ambulance Service backs up several of the Harrison County volunteer squads in the western part of the county and helps the hospital with interfacility transports when requested.

In 2013, Smith Ambulance celebrated its 30th anniversary of providing service in the Tuscarawas Valley region.

It is the area’s largest ambulance service and medical transportation provider, according to officials.
