Sleep Outfitters open in Hollywood

STEUBENVILLE – Mattress retailer Sleep Outfitters opened its newest store on Jan. 16 in the Hollywood Shopping Center.

“We are pleased to become a part of the Steubenville community. Every guest to our store should be able to celebrate a good, healthy night’s sleep,” said Sleep Outfitters owner Kim Knopf. “Our company is growing because we guarantee comfort and value, and we carry an outstanding selection of America’s best brands,” Knopf said.

Sleep Outfitters also has stores across the Ohio River in West Virigina in Tridelphia, Moundsville and New Martinsville.

Sleep Outfitters parent company, Innovative Mattress Solutions, operates 49 stores in Ohio under the Sleep Outfitters and Mattress Warehouse names. A new Sleep Outfitters opened in Lima, Ohio, last week.

In addition to the popular Sealy, Stearns and Foster and Tempur-Pedic mattress products, the company recently added the British-made Dormeo Octaspring mattresses, and its own Kim Knopf-designed uDream lines of mattresses, to the popular product offerings.

Sleep Outfitters also carries sleep technologies and products, such as memory foam, gel and innerspring mattresses, adjustable bed foundations and sleep accessories such as pillows and bed bug protectors.

Innovative Mattress Solutions was founded by Knopf 30 years ago in South Charleston, W.Va., when she opened her first store, under the Mattress Warehouse name. Trade publication Furniture/Today last year cited Innovative Mattress Solutions as the country’s eighth largest mattress retailer.

As part of its 30th anniversary celebration last year, Sleep Outfitters gave away one queen-sized mattress set each week for 30 weeks from May to November. Customers registered on Facebook for a chance to win Sealy, Stearns and Foster, Tempur-Pedic, Octaspring and uDream mattress sets.

In December, IMS invited its 30 mattress winners to help donate 30 mattresses to people in need by nominating local charities to receive mattress donations. Fifteen winners nominated hometown charities. The top six charities receiving the most Facebook likes are receiving five new mattresses each to help the people they serve. The charities are located in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.

Discarded mattresses are becoming a nuisance in America’s landfills. Partnering with Spring Back Recycling of Nashville, Knopf’s company recycles an average of 400 old mattresses a week by deconstructing them and selling the materials for new and different uses.

Innovative Mattress Solutions, headquartered in Winfield, W.Va., operates more than 150 retail mattress stores under the Mattress Warehouse, Sleep Outfitters and Mattress King brands in six states: West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Alabama.
