First Choice America honors employees
WEIRTON – “Our employees are this company’s most valuable asset, and we are happy to recognize all of you for your hard work, dedicated service and commitment to our Credit Union,” said Scott E. Winwood, chairman and president, at First Choice America Credit Union’s Annual Employee Appreciation event held May 9.
Seventeen of the 103 employees were honored with service awards at a banquet at Williams Country Club, which occurred during the observance of the Credit Union’s 75th anniversary in business.
“Despite sluggish economic conditions and the continued low interest rate environment, First Choice America had another successful year,” Winwood stated, adding the business set all-time highs in several key financial categories – total assets of $405 million; deposits, $349 million; and investments, $250 million.
He added, “We initiated mobile banking last July with the launch of the First Choice America Mobile App and to date over 5,000 members have signed up for this new technology.”
Additionally, First Choice America received another “superior” rating from an official industry rating group for safety and soundness. And once again, for the fifth consecutive year, the Credit Union received a flawless audit from our independent auditors, which is the sixth time the company has accomplished this distinction in the last seven years and is unparalleled in our Credit Union’s long history. Both achievements demonstrate our unwavering commitment to excellence.
“None of this would have been possible without all of you,” said Winwood to the employees. “Your collective skills and knowledge, dedication and commitment make First Choice America the success it is today and positions us for an even greater future,” he said.
Also, First Choice America recently received the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award from the West Virginia Credit Union League in recognition of the Credit Union’s continued strong community support of those in need, according to officials. This represents the 10th consecutive year that First Choice has received this distinguished honor.
