Wellsburg flower shop aims to satisfy customers
WELLSBURG — With 30 years of experience in floral design, Melissa Vojvodich knows the importance of providing quality service.
“My regular customers know I’m going to make the extra effort,” said Vojvodich, who celebrated the opening of her new business, Awesome Blooms Flowers & Gifts, with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce.
The business is at 331 Mar Lou Lane off state Route 27, about two miles from Drover’s Inn.
Vojvodich said after studying horticulture at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School, she worked for many years at local floral shops as well as running Sol’s, a large consignment store in Berlin, Ohio, before deciding to start her own business.
“This was just a step I wanted to take,” said Vojvodich, a Steubenville native who moved to Wellsburg several years ago.
She said Awesome Blooms Flowers & Gifts is a full-service flower shop prepared to meet the needs of weddings, funerals and other major occasions.
Delivery is available to Brooke and Hancock counties and Jefferson County in Ohio and Washington County in Pennsylvania.
Vojvodich said when providing floral arrangements for wedding, she will meet with the bride-to-be more than once if needed to ensure the arrangements are what the bride expected. She added she makes ordering flowers for funerals as simple as possible because she knows it’s a difficult time for those involved.
Vojvodich said she will use her phone to send photos of floral arrangements to those ordering from out of the area.
“They absolutely love they can see what they are sending,” she said.
In addition to flowers, Awesome Blooms Flowers & Gifts offers gift baskets filled with gourmet foods, fruit and other goodies, which Vojvodich said can offer encouragement to college students preparing for exams or anyone going through a difficult time.
The assortment of decorative items sold by the shop includes hand-made wooden benches, wreaths, wood chimes, angel figurines and soy wax candles with wooden wicks which she said burn more cleanly than traditional candles.
The candles are made by Vojvodich’s husband, Mark, whom she thanked for supporting the new endeavor.
