Attention, Ohio Persian Gulf-era veterans

Though it sounds like a bit far off right now, AMVETS Post 275 Commander Dan Wilson notes that 2013 will likely fly by like all the others.

And there’s no time like the present to be pro-active. In that respect, Ohio Persian Gulf-era veterans, Wilson said, can apply for the Ohio Veterans Bonus through the Dec. 31, 2013, deadline and access information through the Ohio Veterans Bonus website.

Persian Gulf veterans who served in other than a training status from Aug. 2, 1990, and March 3, 1991, have until Dec. 31 to file for the bonus.

This is the first eligibility date that will come up under the latest bonus period, according to Wilson. Veterans can use the Ohio Department of Veterans Service Eligibility Tool to determine if they are eligible and read all the latest information at veteransbonus.ohio.gov/odvs.

If veterans need assistance in determining their eligibility, they can contact their local Veterans Service Office in all 88 Ohio counties or contact AMVETS Post 275 by phone at (740) 317-8646 or by e-mail at ovveterans@gmail.com.

“Our network will be glad to help,” Wilson said.

“We want to make sure everyone that is eligible during the Persian Gulf era is aware of the date. Once the date has passed, Persian Gulf veterans won’t be eligible any more,” he emphasized.
