The Rotary Club of Weirton Heights will hold its 2013 Mardi Gras Gala Feb. 9 at the Williams Country Club.

MedExpress will sponsor a musical performance by Legends; Tom Raymond and the country club staff will prepare the meal; and Gus’s Goodies will provide desserts.

Throughout the event, drawings will be held for gift baskets, each valued at least $100.

All proceeds will benefit Piece by Peace Inc., a local nonprofit organization providing sensory rooms for autistic children and adults. The sensory-friendly room provides a calming environment locally, instead of families having to travel to Pittsburgh or Wheeling. The Mardi Gras Gala proceeds will allow the organization to finish a second room.

Corporate-level sponsorships are still available, and tickets are $50 per person.

To obtain tickets or a sponsorship, contact Jack Fowler at (304) 723-5540.

Drawing tickets are available now at $5 each. Tickets for the party are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

These agencies support the community in many ways including utility assistance, clothing, food, emergency assistance, and literacy programs. By supporting the United Way, donors enable member agencies to feed the hungry, care for the elderly, support youth development, relieve suffering during disasters and unite our community.

The agency’s chamber membership helps the staff become knowledgeable about area businesses and achieve goals for public benefit.
