Some area churches hosting fish frys during lent
St. Thomas Episcopal
St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Three Springs Drive, Weirton, will hold fish frys from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each Friday during Lent.
The cost is $6.50 per sandwich and $8 per dinner. Sides include fries, cole slaw or applesauce. There also will be desserts.
Sacred Heart of Mary
Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church will hold fish frys from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent at the church hall located at 200 Preston Ave., Weirton.
Baked or fried fish platters, including cole slaw and a choice of macaroni and cheese, haluski or French fries, are $10. Fried shrimp platters are $10.50. Fried fish platters with a choice of macaroni and cheese or French fries are $7.50 for children under 12. A la carte selections include baked and fried fish, haluski, french fries, cole slaw, desserts and beverages.
Cooked and frozen potato and cheese or sauerkraut pierogies are available for $2.75 for three or $11 for a dozen cooked or $10 for a dozen frozen. Fresh bread is available for $4 a loaf.

The Weirton St. Paul Christian Mothers and Holy Name Society will hold a Lenten fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Friday until Good Friday, March 29, at the St. Paul School cafeteria located at 140 Walnut St., Weirton.
Fried fish and shrimp baskets are available for $5.50; baked cod sandwiches are $6.50; a fried fish or shrimp dinner with french fries and slaw is $7.50; a fried fish, baked cod or shrimp dinner with macaroni and cheese and slaw is $8; and a baked cod dinner with macaroni and cheese is $8.50. Side dishes, including fries, slaw, haluski and macaroni and cheese, are available a la carte.
