AARP holds March meeting

WEIRTON – AARP 3846 President Joann Bugin called the March meeting to order and welcomed back Tom Restano and Ann Whitehead.

Carol Irvine delivered the invocation, followed by members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”

Vice President Bettye Williamson introduced the entertainment, Roz and Lynn, a mother-daughter team who performed classic oldies. Paul Grant will provide April’s entertainment.

Reservations Chair Regina Truax reported 85 members were in attendance and reminded members to return calls if they will be attending the meeting.

She also announced the following upcoming trips:

April 7, Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh;

April 11, Branson’s Ozark Jubilee Show; and

April 22-25, Atlantic City.

Milt Fabianich reported he has collected 36 pairs of glasses and three cell phones. Barb McCoy has collected $23.07 in the penny jar for the senior center.

Joann Bugin discussed admission diagnosis for hospital stays and reminded members to avoid political discussions during meetings.

Membership Chair Joyce Dobbs announced a total of 136 members. Linda Moss, Roy Marker and Jim Grimm were welcomed as new members, and guest Delia Egan attended.

Sunshine Chair Mary Rose Spano sent sympathy cards to Richard and Joyce Dobbs and Doris Ficca. Nancy Smurda celebrated a birthday and Richard and Joyce Dobbs celebrated their first anniversary in March.

John Pandelios resigned his position on the board, and Richard Dobbs was approved to finish the term for a period of one year.

Nancy Fridley, Linda Moss, Alice Cook, Norman White, Jack Cummings, Joann Bugin, Michael Oklok, Walter Klepadlo, Midge Green, Rena Molson, Olivia Oklok, Milt Fabianich, Barbara Purks, Tom Restano, Barbara Visnic, Katy Rosohac, Virginia Riley, Richard Dobbs, Tony Beltrame, Patty Beltrame and Valeria Adamczyk received door prizes.

Carol Irvine gave benediction, and the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be held April 6.
