Auxiliary welcomes new member
WEIRTON – The American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary held a monthly meeting March 18 at the post hall with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order and presiding over the business session.
Chaplain Wanda Perrone gave the invocation and announced the auxiliary sent get-well cards to Joan Spano and Dee Campbell. The membership recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Preamble to the American Legion Auxiliary Constitution. Secretary Clara Robinson called roll and read the February meeting minutes and a thank-you card from Joan Spano.
Vice President Gloria Jerrel gave a report on the bakeless bake sale.
Brecht noted an officers’ meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Monday and asked the officers to attend.
The Sons of Allegiance will hold a spaghetti dinner April 21, and the auxiliary will provide desserts.
The group submitted an end-of-the-year report, and the First District spring conference will be held April 28 in Moundsville. Six Post 10 auxiliary members will attend.
The group ordered Memorial Day and Gold Star Mother wreaths and made a donation to the Leadership Weirton 2013 Class for beautification of Memorial Park.
Brecht installed new member Mary Folden, who also won the 50/50 drawing.
Marcy Spano served refreshments.
Perrone gave the closing prayer, and Brecht adjourned the meeting.
The next meeting will be April 15.
