Celebrating Dr. Seuss

Weirton Mayor George Kondik, fourth photo, was a guest reader in Holly Yarter’s fourth-grade class as part of Colliers Primary School’s Dr. Seuss celebration. The school celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday Friday by inviting community members to be guest readers in each class. The school also held a “Silly for Seuss” day to benefit the United Way, with students and staff making a donation in order to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character. The school raised $1,000 for the United Way. Weir High School students from Harriet Mastromichalis’ senior English Advanced Placement class, first and second photos, were guest readers at Liberty Elementary School Friday in observance of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Marland Heights Preschool, third photo, celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday March 1. They made Seuss hats, door hangers, watched Dr. Seuss movies and read Seuss books. Those participating included Ali Pierce, Alivia Smith, Autumn Fortune, Brady Dennis, Brayley Lash, Brooklyn Hawthorne, Cady Freeland, Cameron Michaud, Cooper Byers, Deedra Groves, Ethan Fisher, Faith Krutilla, Gracie Talbott, Jordan Mercer, Jude Blake, Kara Kuca, Lilly Ivady, Paden Purnell, Riley Sadler, Rocco Sacripanti, Ryan Haught and Sage Meyer.
