Health care conferences scheduled
BETHANY – The Ohio Valley Chapter of the West Virginia State Health Education Council will host a one-day conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 15 at Bethany College’s Mountainside Conference Center.
Jim Harris, author, speaker and educational consultant, will speak on provider-parent collaboration and developing strategies to address challenging behaviors.
Carrie Abraham and Allen Marangoni, both Wheeling Jesuit University faculty members, will speak about the benefits and challenges of implementing workplace wellness initiatices.
Ann Koegler from Altenheim Resource and Referral Center will speak about elder abuse, including prevalence, causes and state reporting regulations.
Representatives from more than 14 health-related organizations and businesses will be exhibiting throughout the day and there will be door prizes.
“The conference is an opportunity for attendees to receive the latest information on some of the health issues that are relevant to communities in the Northern Panhandle, to meet local health educators, and to learn more about locally available health and wellness resources,” said Linda Homstrand of the Wellness Council of West Virginia.
The event will includes workshops, lunch and continuing education unites. It is open to the public.
