PTA considers fundraiser
WELLSBURG – The Brooke County Council PTA discussed plans for a fundraiser for its clothes closet and the upcoming spring banquet at a meeting held Jan. 17 at Lauretta B. Millsop Primary School.
Guests included Assistant Superintendent Marty Bartz and Millsop Principal Tina Zago.
The group discussed possible fundraisers, including a bingo or sock hop, for the clothes closet and acknowledged the many involved in providing a drop-off box for the clothes closet, which is at 26th Street and Pleasant Avenue. The box was built by vocational students in Chris Mockbee’s and Ralph Smith’s classes at Brooke High School with materials paid for by James White Construction.
Plans also were made for the council banquet to be held at 6:30 p.m. May 16 at the Serbian American Cultural Center on Colliers Way. The cost is $15 per person, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund and clothes closet.
Stephanie Kamarados will organize the event, with Carrie Douglas and Laura Scheetz collecting items for the goody bags.
Kaili Ridgley announced St. Anthony Catholic Church held events in January and February to help local children in need.
Hooverson Heights Primary School won the room count for that meeting, with 152 representatives in attendance.
