Legion Post 10 Auxiliary holds meeting
WEIRTON – The American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary held their monthly meeting April 15, with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order and presiding over the business session.
Chaplain Wanda Perrone gave the invocation, and the members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the American Legion Auxiliary Constitution. Secretary Clara Robinson called roll and read the March meeting minutes, which were approved as read. She read a thank-you note from Red Nichols. Treasurer Loretta Fabian gave the financial report, which was approved as read and filed for audit.
Brecht initiated Bonnie Nichols into the auxiliary.
Perrone sent get-well cards to Chris Barker, Shirley Brecht, Joan Spano and Edith Truax.
The auxiliary donated desserts to the Sons of the Legion’s Sunday spaghetti dinner.
Vice President Gloria Jerrel noted area businesses and individuals made donations toward the cost of Girls State.
The auxiliary continues to accept donations for the bakeless bake sale.
There will be an officers’ meeting at 1 p.m. April 29 at the legion hall. Poppy Day will be May 3, and auxiliary members will be at area business, distributing poppies for donations, which go to help disabled veterans.
The election of officers and covered-dish dinner will be held in June.
The Gold Star Wreath will be placed by Pat Folden, wife of Post Commander Vic Folden, during the Memorial Day ceremony.
Marcy and Joan Spano served. Clara Robinson won the 50/50 drawing. Perrone led the closing prayer. Brecht adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be May 20.
