NC Lions recognized for service
NEW CUMBERLAND – The New Cumberland Lions Club held the regular meeting April 9 with Past District Gov. Eva Dague giving a presentation on the requirements to achieve a Club Excellence Award.
Past District Gov. Patty Nutter presented membership chevrons to Lion Edwin Flowers, 55 years; Lion Bill Staley, 35 years; Lion Charlie Mitchell, 25 years; Lion Margaret Ann Patton, 15 years; Lion Tim Turley, 15 years; Lion John Ashcraft, 10 years; and Lion Rick Tinsky, 10 years.
Nutter also presented Past President Tom Tate with a certificate recognizing the club’s growth during the 2011-2013 year. Nutter presented the Melvin Jones Award to Lion Russ Flannigan for his service to West Virginia District 29L and the New Cumberland Lions Club.

Lion Bob Manypenny introduced prospective member Don Deemer Jr.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read.
Lion John Edwards reported on the flag program presented to the New Manchester Elementary School third-graders March 22. Lions Arland Lamp, Bob Manypenny and Bob McNeil assisted.
Lion Bob Manypenny has a paper drive scheduled for Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Lion Bob McNeil has an Adopt-a-Highway clean-up scheduled for April 27. Lions will meet at 8 a.m. for breakfast and begin the clean-up at 9 a.m. at the Department of Highways garage.
Lion Joyce Young thanked the Lions for the use of the sign.
Lion Russ Flannigan, seconded by Lion Jennifer Meeker, made a motion to adjourn.
The next meeting will be held April 23 at the New Cumberland City Building.
