Volunteers to be honored

WEIRTON – The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary’s April meeting was called to order by President Sondra Weigel, followed by members reciting the Auxiliary Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

Administrative Liaison Barbara Coalter gave an update on new services to be added and continuing work being done on other projects. She extended an invitation to volunteers in honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week. A reception will be held Thursday in the medical center cafeteria.

Recording Secretary Elda Weekley and Treasurer Paula Billick gave their reports, which were approved as read.

Paula Billick gave the correspondence secretary’s report, noting get-well and sympathy cards sent to members.

The following service reports were given: Flo Jonczak, clergy; John Patton, coffee cart; Jeannie Duffy, gift shop scheduler; Barbara Visnic, gift cart; Barbara Tunno, information/surgical desk; Jeannie Duffy, mail; Paula Billick, payroll deductions; Elda Weekley, publicity; Diana Crago, radiology; Marg DiClemente, skilled care; Beth DiGregorio, surgical escorts; and John Patton, volunteens.

Special reports were given by: Flo Jonczak, birth certificates; Vivian Weigel, gift shop committee; and Alma Wansack, remembrance fund.

Rose Ulizio, Mrs. Bubbles committee, reported they will visit St. Paul School next week.

Sondra Weigel, volunteen hours chair, reported the following volunteer hours: Kayla Hancher, 56.5 hours; Miranda Saber, 56 hours; and Jackson Carey 37 hours volunteered the most hours for the fourth quarter. Total hours donated by volunteens was 275 hours.

Katy Rosohac, volunteer hour chair, reported the 10 top for the fourth quarter are: Sondra Weigel, 256; Pat Gurrera, 187; Augie DiGirolamo, 168; Paula Billick, 143; Elda Weekley, 140.5; Jennie Fetty, 114.5; Jeannie Duffy, 110.5; Vivian Weigel, 110.5; Margaret Porchiran 107; and Marilyn Hinchee, 102.5.

An orientation will be held June 5. The May Executive Board Meeting will be held May 14. The Auxiliary of West Virginia Hospital Association spring workshop will be held May 20-22 at the Stonewall Jackson Resort. President Sondra Weigel and President-Elect Jeannie Duffy will attend.
