West Virginia Elks Association holding convention this week

WHEELING – The West Virginia Elks Association will hold the state convention and election of state officers for the 2013-2014 year Thursday through Sunday at Oglebay Resort.

More than 200 Elks and their families will attend.

Roger “Hambone” Kirkpatrick of Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 is a candidate for northern vice president. If elected, he would become state president in three years. He is a past exalted ruler of the Weirton Elks Lodge and past district deputy north, and Kirkpatrick is now serving as lodge Trustees Committee chair.

Carl T. Mooney of Huntington is West Virginia Elks Association president. Gary Hayden, Kentucky Elks Association president, and Darryl Myers, Virginia Elks Association president, are invited guests to the convention. The four-day convention will conclude Sunday evening with the “Eleven O’Clock Toast” by the newly elected president.
