Piece by Peace Sensory Rooms are located at 2850 Weir Ave., on the Krazy ‘Bout Sportz Entertainment Complex’s second floor.

Statistics show one in 88 children will diagnosed on the autism spectrum, with the disorder four times more prevalent in boys than girls.

The sensory rooms provide a therapeutic place where people of all ages, diagnosed with cognitive disorders from autism to Alzheimer’s can improve posture; movement; gross, fine and oral motor skills; adaptive behavior; learning and memory; and speech and language. This is achieved through one-on-one guided play with parents and/or therapists.

One of two planned rooms is open. This room is an interactive playroom where senses are developed with activities such as playing on a trampoline, swinging, searching for toys in rice, rolling on exercise balls, finger painting and building with blocks.

In the near future, the quiet room will open. The room will include soft lighting and soft furnishings with things such as bubble lights, a projector, a swinging hammock chair, interactive wall panels, lava lamps and computers for games and/or listening.

Tri-State Medical Group has been an active member in the Weirton Chamber of Commerce for many years. They value both the networking and community outreach opportunities that have emerged from the long-standing relationship.

Tri-State Medical Group is made up of Tri-State Pharmacy, Follansbee Pharmacy and Tri-State Medical. They take pride in providing fast, friendly service at each location, free delivery six days a week, free medication reviews, medication therapy management counseling, vaccinations for flu, pneumonia, and shingles and compounding services.

Compounding is a service in which a pharmacist makes a specialized medication that is not available commercially or is not available in a specific strength, dose or form.

Tri-State Pharmacy has the area’s only compounding pharmacy that is Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board-certified. They undergo thorough onsite visits from a PCAB surveyor. The evaluation includes the following: a review of the testing procedures for product quality, a review of records and procedures required to prepare quality compounded medications, and verification that the pharmacy uses ingredients from FDA-registered or licensed sources. They test the quality of each of their products to ensure that their patients receive a high-quality product every time they come to our pharmacy.
