AARP Chapter holds meeting

WEIRTON – President Joann Bugin presided over the May AARP Chapter 3846 meeting at Undo’s.

Carol Irvine gave the invocation with a special Mother’s Day reading, followed by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”

Rollback Music with Rich Grimm and David Hunt provided entertainment, closing with the “Mickey Mouse Club Theme,” in which they were joined by the membership.

Vice President Bettye Williamson announced Donahue and Son will entertain at the June 10 meeting.

Secretary Barbara Purks read the April meeting minutes and Treasurer Frank Fazio gave his report. Sunshine Chair Mary Rose Spano sent get-well cards to mary Gubetti, Loretta Nicholas, Roy Marker and John Grimm. Members observed May birthdays, including Louise Herman, Joyce Dobbs, Nancy Fridley and Tony Beltrame. Reservation Chair Regine Truax reported 88 members were in attendance and introduced guest Carol Boyer. Parliamentarian Louise Herman gave a presentation “Are You Aware?” and Bugin expressed appreciation for her work.

Milt Fabianich reported 35 pairs of glasses, two hearing aids and five cell phones have been collected.

Barb McCoy collected $15.80 from the penny jar in April for the Greater Weirton Area Senior Center.

Eva Fabianich and Carol Irvine decorated the room.

Bettye Williamson read “Mother’s Journey.”

Ann Perhacs, Midge Green, Richard Dobbs, Eleanor Pritchard, Valeria Adamczyk and Bettye Williamson won prizes. Hospitality Chair Kathryn Hardsauk gave spring flowers to Barb Visnic, Kathryn Hardsauk, Patty Beltrame, Bettye Williamson, Marie Straight, Nikki Cable, Patsy Verlast, Corliss Brown, Nancy Fridley, Barb McCoy, Regina Truax, Ruth Sperry, Katy Rosohac, Cindy Gilbert and Carol Irvin in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Virginia Kucan gave the benediction and the meeting was adjourned.
