Richmond Legion

to decorate graves

Members of the Richmond American Post 740 Honored Seven will be decorating veterans’ graves with flags at Richmond Union Cemetery on Saturday and welcome anyone else interested in helping.

Members will assemble at the Legion hall on Legion Street at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to post Commander Dan Vojvodich.

Any veterans, meanwhile, who are interested in marching with the Legion in the community’s Memorial Day parade on Monday should meet at the Legion hall at 10 a.m.

N.C. Lions to hold

pulled pork sale

The New Cumberland Lions Club will be selling pulled pork sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the New Cumberland Firemen’s Field pavilion during the Moto Guzzi Rally and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Swaney Memorial Library parking lot.

Pork sandwiches are $5. Smoked chicken halves will be available Saturday only and cost $5.50.

Both will be available as dinners with two side dishes, including choices of baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw for an additional $1.50. Whole smoked pork butts will be available Saturday only and will cost $22.

To ensure receiving a half chicken or order a whole pork butt, advance orders must be made by calling Bob Manypenny at (304) 564-5055 by noon today.

Country Friends

to host Eldurays

Country Friends has canceled its Monday event in observance of Memorial Day.

The group will host the Eldurays Saturday at the Memorial Hall on Old Police Lodge Road in Colliers.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the Eldurays will perform at 7 p.m.

Country Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Christian friendship and brotherly love through music.

All proceeds go to charity.
