Department eyes feminist heroes
WEIRTON – The Literary Department of the Weirton Woman’s Club, a General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia member organization, met April 15 at Undo’s for a meeting and dinner.
Chair Diana Durst welcomed members and guests JoEllen Wright and Iris Rees.
Minnie Pazich gave the inspiration and led the Pledge of Allegiance and “God Bless America.”
Sharon Neeley gave the Literary Light. She reviewed “Women of our Time, Portraits of Remarkable Women” by Frederick Voss and “Founding Mothers, the Women Who Raised a Nation” by Cokie Roberts
Pazich reported 21 members and 3 guests in attendance.
June Pulice announced Molly Mossor will give the May Inspiration, and Barbara Raynolds announced Literary Light will be given by Raynolds.
Memento Chair Carla Glover, Program Chair Enid Williams, Publicity and Basket Drawing Chair Mossor, Scrapbook Chair Carol Village, Used Books Chair Patty Rhoades and Book Review Chair Sandra Robbins gave committee reports.
Village reported on a mini book sale for the library and announced nearly $70 was raised.
Williams introduced the program, “A Walk Down Memory Lane” and Patty Rhoades, Barbara Raynolds, Shirlee Baltich, Jo Ellen Wright, Iris Rees, Billie Dietz and Sharon Neeley shared stories about the club.
Baltich, Robbins, Delores Azzarello and Williams won door prizes donated by Village.
The next meeting will be held May 18 at Williams Country Club and will feature Fiesta Ware bingo.
