Lunch With Books program announced
WHEELING – The Ohio County Public Library has announced upcoming Lunch With Books programs.
Noon Tuesday, “Air Force One Crewman.” After a backup trip with President Nixon, John L. Haigh set out to become a permanent member of the Air Force One flight crew. After flying missions with the Apollo 17 astronauts and world leaders like Queen Elizabeth, Haigh was selected in 1979 as a permanent member of the crew.
Noon May 28, “Satchel Paige: Long Rifle.” Cedric Liqueur, Royal Shakespeare Co. actor and playwright, will present his solo performance on the life of Leroy “Satchel” Paige, one of the greatest baseball pitchers of all-time. Paige was the first Negro League player to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The play was written in collaboration with the Satchel Paige family and is licensed by Satchel Paige Enterprises.
Noon June 4, “I Will Go to the Altar of God.” The Rev. Marian Mazgaj will discuss his autobiography, “I Will Go to the Altar of God: What It Took to Become a Priest in Communist Poland.” During World War II, Mazgaj took part in the combat against German forces with the Polish Home Army.
Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Patrons are invited to bring a bag lunch and free beverages are served.
