McHendry class holds meeting
WEIRTON – The Myrtle McHendry Sunday School Class held a meeting May 7 at the Cove Presbyterian Church’s fellowship hall.
President Betty Virtue welcomed members and guest. The meeting honored retired bell choir director Becky Korosec. Rosalie Coxen led devotions focusing on music and reading Psalm 100. She closed with prayer and the table blessing.
Eloise Evans welcomed the guest of honor, Korosec, and gave a brief history on her musical career. Korosec was involved with the choir for 20 years.
Vice President Bonnie Nichols crown Korosec as the “Queen of Music” with a crown of musical notes. Darlene Johnson presented Korosec with a crocheted shawl from Charlene Means and Greta Billham. Eleanor Cline presented an appreciation gift from the Sunday school class. Several former bell choir members and class members performed several hand bell songs.
Virtue noted the meeting would be abbreviated.
Treasurer Rhadine Ross gave her report, which was filed for audit. She noted 17 members and six guests were in attendance. Members acknowledged May birthdays and sang “Happy Birthday.”
Evelyn Buckley read a thank-you note from Jeannie Monager. Cline invited those in attendance to attend her Sunday school class, where First and Second Peter are being studied.
Virtue reminded members plans are being finalized for the June 4 outing at the Serbian American Cultural Center. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Virtue thanked hostesses Cline, Ruth Coates and Mary Kay Hyde. Barbara Losey was thanked for the favors she made for the tables.
Virtue read “The Miracle of Friendship” from the class handbook to close the meeting.
