Post 10 Auxiliary plans fundraiser

WEIRTON – The American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary held its monthly meeting May 20 at the Legion hall on Pennsylvania Avenue.

President Shirley Brecht called the meeting to order and presided over the business session.

Chaplain Wanda Perrone gave the invocation, and Brecht led the Pledge of Allegiance and led members in reciting the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. Secretary Clara Robinson called roll and read the April 15 meeting minutes, and Treasurer Loretta Robinson gave the financial report, which was approved as read and filed for audit. Brecht thanked Poppy Chair Pat Folden for her work and thanked Poppy Day volunteers.

Brecht reported the Last Man Dinner was a success and five girls will be attending Girls State. Historian Joan Spano passed out photographs. The auxiliary is planning a dinner fundraiser in September.

Brecht won the 50/50 drawing.

June’s meeting will be a covered-dish dinner, and the 2013 officers will be installed.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 17.
