4-H fundraiser starts in Chester

CHESTER – Outspoken for 4-H, an annual fundraising bicycle ride, will begin at the World’s Largest Teapot at 6:24 a.m. Thursday.

For the 10th year, 4-H members, leaders and supporters will bicycle 250 miles to raise money for camp scholarships.

Hancock County residents involved in the ride include Alec James, Ronald James, Susan James, Teresa Miller Holzapfel and Jomar Shaffer.

The riders will pass through 11 counties before ending just outside of Weston at West Virginia University’s Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Camp for the kickoff of 4-H Older Member’s Conference on Sunday the summer’s first state 4-H camp.

There are several ways to donate. In addition to the traditional methods of donating online or by mail, donation by text message is available this year.

Those who would like to place motivational signs along the route are welcome and encouraged to do so. A detailed route map is available at outspokenfor4h.ext.wvu.edu/the-route.
