Elks plans summer of activities

WEIRTON – The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 has announced their summer events.

They include:

11 a.m. June 15, Flag Day Services at Veterans War Memorial at the Millsop Community Center. The Elks will honor the flag and reflect on those who have served. All Elks, family and friends are invited to attend the service and spend a few moments learning about and honoring the nation’s flag. In case if inclement weather the service will be conducted at the lodge located across the street. Coffee and cake will be served at the lodge following the service.

4 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 15 Father’s Day Steak Dinner at the lodge. The meal includes steak, baked potato, green beans, dessert and bread. Cost is $10.00 with reservations due by Thursday by calling (304) 748-0565. The past exalted rulers pasta dinner has been canceled because of Father’s Day. It dinner will return in July.

June 20, West Virginia Day. The Elks will celebrate West Virginia’s 150th birthday with evening activities and tipping off a basket containing treasured memorabilia.

June 29, golf scramble at Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course with shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $65.00. Food and refreshments will be served during the day. Dinner, prizes and awards will take place at the lodge following completion of the scramble. For information, call the lodge at (304) 748-0565.

July 4, Fourth of July holiday. The Elks Lodge will be closed.

9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 6, pancake breakfast at the lodge. The meal includes pancakes, sausages, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The city’s Fourth of July parade is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. on Main Street, followed by Weirton Renaissance activities at the Weirton Event Center.

Aug. 3, Elks Family Picnic at Marland Heights Park. More information will be announced at a later date.

The lodge will close at 8 p.m. Sundays during the summer.
