Oglebay celebrates independence

WHEELING – Oglebay Park will host an Independence Day Celebration Wednesday and Thursday.

The celebration will include a fireworks display, including patriotic music, at 9:30 Wednesday at Schenk Lake.

Wednesday’s activities also will include free Oglebay Stables tours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the Fort Henry Re-enactors from noon to 8 p.m. at the Wagon Shed Shelter; picnic-style food service from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Schenk Lake; the Subway Show Band from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Schenk Lake; Chris Kefauver’s ice carving demonstration from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wagon Shed;

Inflatable rides and a rock wall will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Schenk Lake. The inflatable rides start at $1 per ride and the rock wall is $5.

The Good Zoo will present “Dino Talk” from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The animal care staff will be doing animal enrichment activities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, including special red, white and blue treats and special activities.
