Ohio Valley Camera Club meets
WINTERSVILLE, Ohio – The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club has named the winners of the May competition in prints and slides.
The print winners for the topic of the month “Historical” were Steve Roberts, first place; Anissa Wellington and Debra Snider, second place; and Ernest D’Andrea and Don Roberts, third place. In the open category, the winners included Don Roberts, first place; Andy Tindor, second place; and Snider, third place. The special effects winners were Don Roberts, first place; Dave Rees, second place; and Angela McClain, Wellington and Snider, third place. The slide winners for the topic “Historical” were Claudia Norris, first place; Steve Whiting, second place; and Judy Whiting, third place. The open category winners included Norris, first place; Steve Whiting, second place; and Judy Whiting, third place. The special effects winners were Steve Whiting, first place; and Norris, second place.
For the workshop meeting in May, the camera club held a “model shoot” at the club’s regular meeting location at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church hall. Club members brought with them someone to serve as a model. Becky Mihopulos, Wellington and Snider provided backdrops and studio lighting. Mike Ofca brought his motorcycle to serve as a prop.
Some club members attended a field trip in May to DiGregory’s Greenhouse and Garden Center in Steubenville to photograph flowers. Members’ pictures were on display throughout the entire month of May at the Center of Music and Art in Wintersville.
It was announced that the camera club will have a booth at the “Thunder in the Ville Festival” in Wintersville June 29. Pictures donated by some of the members will be auctioned off. Pictures include a vintage train, eagles, a mail pouch barn, an Amish buggy, an elk and a West Virginian grist mill. There will be a 50/50 drawing and a drawing for a free club membership. Information about the club will also be available.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 18. It will be a competition in prints and slides.
