Second Baptist to conclude anniversary celebration Sunday

Second Baptist Church at 717 Adams St., Steubenville, will conclude its celebration of Pastor Calvin McLoyd Jr.’s 22nd anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Lee T. Rucker Jr. as guest speaker.

Rucker is pastor of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Struthers, Ohio, where he has served since Sept. 9, 2007. He received his bachelor of theology degree from the Andersonville Baptist Seminary and is enrolled in its master’s degree program.

Employed as a model designer in the engineering department at the Reznor Division, Thomas & Betts in Mercer, Pa., Rucker has served as vice president of the local Union 7099.

He was ordained a minister in 1997, pastured at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Sharon, Pa., and founded Living Water Missionary Baptist Church of Youngstown in December 2003.

McLoyd, a native of Alabama and an Army veteran, has pastured churches in Alabama, Pennsylvania and Ohio; has worked as a mental health technician; and been an instructor in the mental health and mental retardation system.

He teaches at Eastern Gateway Community College, is a member of Steubenville Kiwanis Club and is the founder of Christian Brotherhood of Second Baptist Church.

He earned his master’s degree in counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville and serves on its board of advisers. He was conferred a doctoral degree from the St. Thomas University of Jacksonville, Fla., in February.
