Bread Basket makes donation

WEIRTON – The Community Bread Basket’s Walking Out Hunger committee will send a check to Mountaineer Food Bank in the amount of $459.47, which reflects 10 percent of money taken in at the Bread Basket’s Walking Out Hunger Tag Day.

“When Tom Knopp came to Hancock County to Walk out Hunger, this committee decided to help the food bank that helps us,” said Bishop J.D. Wall, committee chair. “We get food from Mountaineer Food Bank, and Tom Knopp represents that food bank, so it was a blessing that we could give something back to those that help us.”

Tom Hagg, committee co-chair, said the businesses in our community that helped Community Bread Basket should be recognized. Hagg and the committee thanked Tudor’s Biscuit World, Hancock County Savings Bank, First Choice American Credit Union, Ponderosa Steak House, Suzanne’s Hallmark, Kwik King on Colliers Way, Shop ‘n’ Save, Wal-Mart and Convenient Food Mart on Pennsylvania Avenue for allowing volunteers to canvass their stores May 11.
