Chernenko named trustee

WELLSBURG – Mark Chernenko of Wellsburg was elected a United Methodist Foundation of West Virginia trustee.

President Jeff Taylor said the new trustees bring a variety of gifts to The Foundation’s ministry. Ellis Conley of Fairmont, Karen Grafton of Lookout and Suzanne Knight of Romney also were elected trustees.

“Our Leadership Development Committee strives to nominate prospective trustees with a broad range of gifts and experience,” said Taylor. “We look forward to working with them.”

The Board recognized the service of retiring trustee, Delbert L. “Butch” Phillips of Fairmont, who served as Chairperson from 2011-2013. Hugh P. Dopson, Sidney E. Grisell and Karen Sue Cartwright also retired as trustees.

J. Franklin “Joe” Long of Bluefield was elected to serve a two-year term as chair. Jeffrey A. Porter of Huntington will serve as vice chair. The board also re-elected C. Dallas Kayser of Point Pleasant to serve another year as treasurer; Kim Matthews to continue to serve as secretary; and Taylor to continue to serve as president. Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball serves as the honorary chair.

The foundation manages nearly $80 million dedicated to charitable causes.
