Tri-State Marine Corps Auxiliary plans picnic

The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary held their monthly meeting July 8 at the Serbian-American Cultural Center on Colliers Way.

In the absence of President Joan Spano, Vice President Darlene Kemp called the meeting to order and presided over the business session. Chaplain Mary Ann Smith gave the invocation and Shirley Brecht read Devotions on a poem called “Yesterday Trials” with special prayers for Rose Barbara, Jean Hanlin, Gertie Hanlin, Scott Dawson, Jaime Marnich, Jake Killen, Joan Spano, Ruth Ann Petrie, Melvin Lewis, Danny Lyons, Rose Mary Dawson, Shannon, Roland Barker, Wanda Perrone and August Ragan.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kemp, followed by roll call. In absence of secretary Carol Lyons, Marcy Spano read the minutes from the June meeting which was approved as read.

The club recieved a list of name for the birthdays at the state Veterans home in Barboursville.

Tresurer Maxine Ragan gave her financial report. Sunshine chairperson Mary Ann Elliott sent get well cards to Joan Spano, Larry and Debbie Hundagen, Carolyn Mirabella, Scott Dawson, Margie Irvin.

July birthdays were extended to JoAnn Johns and Leroy Bee.

Nine birthday cards were sent to the residents of the state Veterans Home in Barboursville.

The 50/50 was won by JoAnn Johns and she donated it back to the club treasury. The bakeless bake sale continues.

The picnic will be at The Paris Presbyterian Church Hall 127 Steubenville Pike in Paris Pa. The Auxiliary members and their husbands will attend on Aug. 10, at noon, eat at 2 p.m. There will be door prizes. Attendees are asked to bring their own beverage, with no alcohol.
