Weirton Legion auxiliary installs officers for 2013
The Weirton American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary installs officers for 2013 at its June 17 meeting where President Shirley Brecht presided at the business session and will continue as the group’s leader.
Joining her in holding offices are Vice President Pat Folden, Secretary Clara Robinson, Treasurer Gloria Jerrel, Chaplain Marcy Spano, Sergeant-at-Arms Wanda Perrone and Historian Joan Spano.
Perrone gave the invocation, and reports were given by Robinson and Treasurer Loretta Fabian.
The financial report will be audited at 1:30 p.m. July 8 at the post. The audit committee includes Betty Chappell, Martha Holstein and Edith Truax.
Robinson read thank-you notes from Milton Fabianich of the Last Man’s Club and Veterans’ Affairs in Pittsburgh.
Membership Committee Chair Gloria Jerrel reported Girls State members will attend the July meeting.
Folden, poppy chair, announced this year’s Miss Poppy will be Raena McKinney, 7. She will be accompanied in the Fourth of July Parade by Brecht and her grandparents, Wayne and Darlene Kemp.
The Sons of the Legion will hold a steak fry July 19, and the auxiliary will provide desserts.
The Legion picnic will be Aug. 18 with details to come.
The auxiliary is holding a cabbage roll sale Sept. 13.
Chris Barker won the 50/50. Robinson and Fabian will serve at the 6:30 p.m. July 15 meeting.
