American Legion Auxiliary meets
WEIRTON – The American Legion Post 310 Ladies Auxiliary held its monthly meeting Aug. 19 at the post hall on Pennsylvania Avenue.
President Shirley Brecht presided over the business session. Chaplain Marcy Spano gave the invocation, Brecht led the Pledge of Allegiance and members recited the Preamble of the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Secretary Clara Robinson called roll and read the July 15 meeting minutes, which were approved as read. Treasurer Gloria Jerrel gave the financial report, which was filed for audit.
The group canceled an upcoming cabbage rolls sale. Jaye Taylor, Brecht’s granddaughter, was inducted as a new member.
Brecht thanked those who helped with the auxiliary picnic. Sue Donahoe won the picnic’s drawing.
The auxiliary plans to begin holding a Veterans Day dinner, beginning next year.
Auxiliary members will donate a basket of cheer for the Christmas party.
Clara Robinson won the 50/50 drawing.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the post hall.
