Auxiliary makes dinner plans
WEIRTON – The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary held their monthly meeting Aug. 12 at the Serbian American Cultural Center on Colliers Way.
President Joan Spano called the meeting to order and presided over the business session. Spano thanked Vice President Darlene Kemp for conducting the July meeting in her absence.
In the absence of Chaplain Mary Ann Smith, Maxine Ragan gave the invocation and Marcy Spano gave the devotions, reading “Name Above All Names” and prayed for Gertie Hanlin, Jean Hanlin, Jake Killen, Joan Spano, Rose Barbara, George and Lola Tremblay, Scott and Peg Dawson, Bob and Carol Mack, Bob Davidson, Cari Anderson, Charlie Davidson, Craig Shaffer, Margie Irvin, Ruth Ann Petrie, Melvin Lyons, Lewis Lyons and Danny Lyons.
Kemp led the Pledge of Allegiance, which was followed by roll call.
Secretary Carol Lyons read the July meeting minutes, which were approved as read. Lyons read a thank you from the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville for sending seven birthday cards in July.
Treasurer Maxine Ragan gave the financial report. Sunshine Chair Mary Ann Elliott sent get well cards to Wayne Kemp, Clyde Elliott, Ralph Gaffoli, Duke Horstemyer and Joan Spano. Elliott sent a sympathy card to Nancy Salvey. Historian Marcy Spano passed pictures out to the members.
Shirley Brecht won the 50/50 drawing and donated it back to the club. Joan Spano sent seven birthday cards to Barboursville for August birthdays.
The auxiliary picnic was canceled, and the group will have dinner out at 5 p.m. Sept. 7.
Carolyn Lyons and Leroy Bee served refreshments. Mary Ann Smith and Mary Arlia will serve at the September meeting.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9.
