PTA presents


The Colliers Primary School Parent-Teacher Association announced officers for the upcoming academic year, including President Tawyna Dennis, First Vice President Chrissy Carbasho, Second Vice President Stephanie Bubeck, Secretary Darcy Stanley, Treasurer Heather Vojovidich, Historian Ladonna Warrick and Parliamentarian Darlene Brennan.

Fourth-grade students led the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the meeting.

Committee reports were given as follows: Jodi Fabian, Boxtops and Labels for Education; Chrissy Carbasho, homeroom parents; Darlene Brennan, ways and means; and Carbasho, student appreciation.

Monica Hosler was awarded a state life membership in recognition of her service. Principal Jo-Ellen Goodall was thanked for her efforts in achieving the School of Excellence award from the state.

Parade winners announced

Fire Chief Theo Keenan announced trophy winners for the Colliers Firemen’s Festival parade were Hooverson Heights, best tanker and best squad; Bethany Pike, farthest traveled, oldest apparatus and best engine; and Follansbee, best rescue and judges choice.

Fundraisers top sellers

Robert Brennan, Madison Bulger, Rayah Maple, Alex Garrett, Dalton Anderson, Breanna Staley, Alexia Stevens, Lucas McAllister, Jason Long and Emma Jackson were the top sellers at a recent Colliers School fundraiser.

The students were honored by the PTA.

Arionna Grace, Saphira Dennis and Teagan Williams won the Box Top drawing.

Students honored

The Colliers Alumni and Friends Association presented an award to each Colliers Primary School fourth grader for a special accomplishment or trait they possessed.

The students were honored with gifts and refreshments.

Trappers to meet

The Northern Panhandle Trappers Association will hold their first fall meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Colliers Fire Hall.

Scholarships awarded

The Colliers Alumni and Friends Association presented three scholarships to Brooke High School graduates this year.

Aber Govey, Hannah Cebula and Shelby Wade were the recipients. Association President Darlene Brennan made the presentation at the school’s awards night.

Car show


Tim Cain announced the top 10 participants chosen through voting at the annual Firemen’s Festival Car Show.

The were: Rob Myers, 1967 GTX; Pat McCombs, 1968 Camaro; Robert King, 1935 Plymouth Coupe; Les Boyd, 1968 SS Chevy Nova; Keith Booth, 1933 Chevy; Dave Aria, 1948 Anglia; John Hilliard, 1953 Chevy; Eddie Chiarenza, 1965 Chevelle; Perry Duckworth, 1968 Camaro; and Harry Mitchell, 1932 Ford Roadster.

Bailey Construction, Taylor Excavating, TC Auto Repair, Aria Hauling and Excavating, Colliers Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, C and R Construction, AutoZone, Green Acres and Colliers Corner Cupboard sponsored the awards.

Dash plaques and door prizes were awarded.
