Elks Lodge plans activities

WEIRTON – The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 is hosting a number of activities for members and guests.

They include the following:

noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 31, beginning of college football season. The lodge will serve all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers and baked beans for $5. Those attending can watch several games on five large-screen, high-definition televisions at the same time. There will also be a corn hole tournament at $5 per team.

5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 7, steak fry. The lodge will observe the beginning of the Big 12 football season. West Virginia University plays Oklahoma at 8 p.m. at Oklahoma. The cost is $12, and the meal includes steak, baked potato, green beans and dessert. Make a reservation by Sept. 5 to guarantee a steak.

7:30 p.m. Sept. 11, dart league beings. Dart league games begin Sept. 11 and will be held every Wednesday thereafter. A sign-up sheet for members and guests interested in joining the league is available at the lodge. The first meeting to draw teams consisting of three players per team will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 4. The cost to join is $5 which goes towards the dart league banquet at the end of the season.

4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15, pasta dinner. The dinner includes pasta, salad, bread and butter, dessert and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month’s pasta Sunday.

7 p.m. Sept. 24, euchre tournament. The entry fee is $5.

6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, wing nights. Tickets will be collected and one selected for free wings the following week.

Daily and evening menu at the lodge is cod bites, chicken tenders, smelts and jumbo shrimp.
