Lions to hold annual steak fry

WELLSBURG – Area residents can partake of a steak dinner and enjoy some good company while helping a local civic group during the Wellsburg Lions Club’s annual steak fry Aug. 22.

The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brooke Hills Park’s Bald Eagle Shelter.

The cost is $16 for the dinner, which will include steak, potato, tossed salad, dessert and beverages.

The event is a long-time fundraiser for the club and proceeds will go to purchasing a new snow cone trailer, which it uses to raise funds for various civic projects, including funding eye examinations for school children, eye health programs locally and throughout the world through Lions International, supporting Leo Clubs and other youth-related community service programs, scholarships for Brooke High School seniors and the Camp Horseshoe leadership camp.

Those attending the event, which is chaired by Tom Zurbuch, are encouraged to bring their old eyeglasses, which can be recycled for use by those less fortunate.

Because of the event’s popularity, it’s recommended tickets be purchased in advance from any Wellsburg Lion or by calling Zurbuch at (304) 737-1823 or (304) 670-8898.
