Scenes from Salvation Army’s street fair

The Salvation Army of Jefferson County held its annual street fair on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a variety of activities and food in a blocked-off section of Dock Street from Fourth Street to Third Street. Clockwise, top left photo, among the many children participating in the duck pond was Gerald Simpson Jr., 2, of Steubenville, accompanied by his grandmother, Shirley Tingler. Working the game was Jennifer Holland of the Academy of Tae Kwon Do and other volunteers. Two-year-old Mya Smith of Steubenville sat quietly with her mother, Heather Smith, while Morgan Trouten, a volunteer with the Academy of Tae Kwon Do painted a pink Angry Bird on her cheek to match the one on her dress. From left, Bobby Kittle of American Family Insurance; Vicki Littlejohn of the Academy of Tae Kwo Do of Wintersville; Margie Radakovich, the new principal at Wells Academy in Steubenville; and Alesia Brogdon of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23, were among many who volunteered to serve hot dogs and chips and assist with games and other activities. Event-goers got a close look at the equipment aboard a fire truck thanks to Firefighter Joe Ribar and other members of the Steubenville Fire Department.
