AARP holds September meeting
WEIRTON – President Joann Bugin called the AARP Chapter 3846 September meeting to order.
Virginia Kucan gave the innovation, followed by members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”
Bettie Williamson introduced the entertainment, We Three, a singing group of retired school teachers. Rick Pastri will provide entertainment in October.
Secretary Barbara Purks and Treasurer Frank Fazio gave their reports.
The nominating committee, including Chair Carol Irvine, Nancy Smurda, Marion Bowen, Enola Romanelli and Katy Allen, asked membership to consider filling an office if requested.
Membership Chair Joyce Dobbs will collect dues in October and asked members to bring updated cards.
Regina Truax announced upcoming trips.
They include:
Sept. 25, Rivers Casino;
Sept. 30, Polynesian Fire; and
Nov. 13-15, Greenbrier.

Sunshine Chair Mary Rose Spano sent get-well cards to Jeannette Wetzel, Mary Yates and Lester Fridley. Members recognized the birthdays of Katy Allen, Patty Beltrame, Domenica Malloy, Mary Rose Spano, Kathleen Horvath, Emily Waggle, Virginia Riley, Nikki Cable and Marie Straight.
Milt Fabianich continues to collect glasses, cell phones and hearing aids. Barbara McCoy collected $15.22 in August for the senior center.
Corliss Brown and Liz Messerly won the dinners from Undo’s, and Midge Green and Regina Truax won the 50/25/25 drawing. John Fields won the quilt, and Marie Straight won the club dinner.
Hospitality Chair Kathryn Hardsauk gave fall mums to Frank Fazio, Joyce Rzepka, Eleanor Pritchard, Steve Rzepka, Mary Yates, Joann Clark, Kathleen Horvath, Virginia Riley, Viola Blanc, Chuck Bugin, Enola Romanelli, Katy Allen, Carolyn Hill, Norma Yingst, Mildred Vucovich, Grace Lenhart, Joyce Dobbs and Barbara Visnic.
Joann Bugin announced the next meeting will be on Oct. 14 with a favorite team theme. Virginia Kucan gave benediction and meeting adjourned.
