Bark in the Park returns to Hancock County Saturday

The Hancock County Animal Shelter Foundation will welcome the return of its “Bark in the Park” fundraiser, an event to benefit operations at the Hancock County Animal Shelter.

“Bark in the Park,” an afternoon of events designed for pet guardians and their canine companions, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Get-Togethers Picnic Grounds, located at 3934 Kings Creek Road in Weirton.

The lineup of activities will include canine training demonstrations, a rabies clinic, pet photos, pet tarot card readings, K9 unit demonstrations, a blessing of the pets led by the Rev. Nathan Malavolti of the Franciscan University of Steubenville, dog contests, food and prizes.

Admission is $10 per car, which includes a complimentary goodie bag.

The Hancock County Animal Shelter Foundation was founded in 1991 to raise money to fund construction of a new county animal shelter. That success evolved into operation of the county facility in New Manchester, which now provides “food, shelter and loving care every day, to homeless pets from around Hancock County,” according to a news release.
