Heritage Public Library announces upcoming fundraisers
MCDONALD, Pa. – The Friends of Heritage Library will hold their annual fall auction from Oct. 12 through Nov. 16 at the library located at 52 Fourth St.
A bake sale and drawing will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 16. Baskets feature items from L.A. Fitness, Mary Kay, Pittsburgh Symphony, Nam’s Karate and Texas Roadhouse. Tickets for the Nov. 29 University of Pittsburgh-Miami University football games will be available in the drawing.
Tickets are two for $1 or 12 for $5.
The Friends of the Library are holding a drawing for two tickets to the Oct. 20 Pittsburgh Steelers-Baltimore Ravens game. Tickets are $3 for one and $5 for two. The drawing will be held Oct. 5.
A safety fair, with self-defense demonstrations by Nam’s Karate, will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 12.
The library will hold its spooktacular immediately following the McDonald Trail Station Halloween night walk at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. The event will include crafts, snacks and games.
A Sarris candy fundraiser will be held Nov. 1-Nov. 23. The Friends also are holding a drawing for a quilt donated by the McQuilters group. Tickets are $3 each, and $5 for two. The drawing will be held Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.
The Weight Watchers group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays. The library holds a LEGO Club meeting the last Thursday of each month. It will next meet Sept. 26.
The library’s book discussion group meets at at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. Those wanting to suggest a book for the group may do so by sending an e-mail to email@example.com. The club will next meet Oct. 8.
The McQuilters quilting group meets at 10 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month. It will next meet Oct. 9. The library board of directors meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month. The board is seeking new members. Those interested should contact the library. It will next meet Oct. 9.
The tween book club meets from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be Oct. 16. Those interested in joining can call the library.
Friends of the Library meetings are at 6:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month. They will next meet Oct. 16. The Friends has two membership levels, including a full membership with voting privileges for $10, and an associate membership for $5. The library has a teen book club that is open to teens aged 13 to 18 years old. Those interested in participating can contact the library.
The library is offering daily sponsorships for $100, during which the library’s phone will be answered informing callers who is sponsoring the library that day and signage will be displayed in the library. Sponsors also will be mentioned on the library’s social media platforms. Sponsorships for Mondays and Fridays are $50. Individual sponsors pay half price.
The library participates in the ABITIBI recycling fundraising program.
The library offers borough history on microfilm from the 1890s to 1982. It also offers fax services, a copy machine, a scanner, Internet and computer access and e-books, which can be checked out online at the library’s website, using a valid library card number.

Library hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
