Knights auxiliary makes plans
WEIRTON – The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary held the regular monthly meeting Sept. 3 at the knights’ hall.
President Delores Bengier led the members in prayer and reciting the Auxiliary Pledge and Pledge of Allegiance. Sixteen members were present.
Membership Chair Minnie Catignani collected 2014 dues. Social Chair Sondra Pennacchio reported the October meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Ponderosa Golf Course Restaurant. The Christmas party will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at Dee-Jay’s BBQ and Grille. There will be no meeting in January or February.
The first regular meeting of 2014 will be in March.
Secretary Mary Longhi read the previous meeting minutes, which were approved. Treasurer Pennacchio gave her report.
Sunshine Chair Olivia Oklok recognized September birthdays, including Mary Rose Spano and Kay Doboski. Members sang “Happy Birthday.”
The knights’ spaghetti dinners are scheduled to begin in October. Auxiliary members will be baking cakes.
The Women’s Club of Weirton will hold a murder-mystery dinner theater Oct. 5. Bengier asked members interested in attending to call her for tickets.
Members held a surprise party for Elinor Straight, retired Clerk of Courts and auxiliary parliamentarian. She was presented with flowers, a card signed by members and a cake.
Doboski held the 50/50 drawing, which Thelma Kittle won.
Agnes Watt, Kittle and Catignani were hostesses. Donna DiAngelis, Straight and Pennacchio will be November hostesses.
The meeting was adjourned and Bengier closed with prayer.
