Tour eyes forestry management

WINTERSVILLE, Ohio – The Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its second annual “Off the Beaten Path” tour of the county from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5.

The bus loads at 8 a.m. at the conservation district offices located at 587 Bantam Ridge Road.

The focus of the tour is forestry management. A visit to DeNoon Lumber Mill and Retail Shop and stopping at a working timber harvest site are planned.

Lunch will be catered at Austin Lake followed by a presentation from Ohio and Jefferson County Farm Bureau representatives.

The day will close with a short walk around the Austin Lake woodlot property led by a consulting forester and logging professionals.
