Contest winners recognized
WEIRTON – After 3,000 coloring sheets were distributed to local schools, the winners of the West Virginia Credit Union League Weirton-Wellsburg Chapter coloring contest have been chosen.
Entries were submitted by students from Hancock and Brooke county schools, along with area credit union members of the area credit unions.
Each child received a $25 Wal-Mart gift card, certificates from the credit unions and City of Weirton and a souvenir photo at the Oct. 9 chapter meeting.
Hancock Schools Superintendent Suzan Smith, Brooke Schools Director Rhonda Combs and Weirton Mayor George Kondik presented the awards.
The chapter has held the contest to observe International Credit Union Day for 10 years.
The winners included kindergarteners Dominick Bennington, Dixie Louthen and Kaelyn Engle; first-graders Calin Thomas, Melesse Wiersbicki and Kaylee Wright; second-graders Colin Cross, Alexia Hayden and Dameon Rea; third-graders Sophia Aperfine, Landry Bone and Vaida Marino; and fourth-graders Nina Daugherty, Sarah Smith, Austin Williams and Maria Yates.
The chapter includes the following: Eagle Can Employees Federal Credit Union, First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, Hancock School Employees Federal Credit Union, Strip Steel Community Federal Credit Union, Tin Mill Community Federal Credit Union.
